This I have to play with. I didn’t know it was possible to create a random number generator in a spreadsheet. Going to take a look in Excel. Thank you for the inspiration ☺️
Good eye! Yes there are a few shades of off-white here. The background is mostly a cream color that I happened to have a lot of in my stash, but there is a smattering of other whites in there — some that are more of a soft grey or stone color, others a bit brighter white.
Thank you for your generosity in sharing this approach. I am returning from several forced weeks away from my sewing studio and I think that this type or colorful, creative, and scrap-busting project is just what I need to get me back and pushing the pedal.
I highly recommend it! Definitely shook me out of my usual mode of over-thinking. It felt good to just move fast and loosen up a little. Enjoy the return to your sewing studio!
this was seriously fascinating and I love that it was a bit of a mathematical problem that turned into art. The whole time I was reading your method I kept thinking of this radio lab episode:
I love how this turned out! The first time I saw this series I also thought they would translate so well to a quilt and I'm so glad to see it perfectly executed. 🤓
Love this! Reminds me of the art math class I took in college. Thanks for sharing.
Oh wow, an art math class! Sounds like fun!
It was! Amazingly, I found the class syllabus if you’re interested to check it out: https://math.dartmouth.edu/~matc/math5.pattern/index.html
Awesome, thank you so much for sharing!

So great. With the zero (white) did you vary that as well? It looks like there is a cream and a white-white?

This is phenomenal, a perfect marriage of science and art
Gorgeous quilt and I LOVE hearing about your influence and the spreadsheet! I do love a spreadsheet 😉 Thank you so much for sharing this!
